We at Scoot Around Town take your safety very seriously. There has been a recall of the HCI 50 "Pudding Bowl" helmet. Details of the recall are still being worked out. Please contact Scoot Around Town at (734) 484-9993 if you own one of these helmets and we will do our utmost to resolve this issue quickly.
Notice of Recall:
This notice complies with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Certain products manufactured by the Helmet City International between June 2007 and August 2008 failed to conform to the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 218 for Motorcycle helmets.
What's wrong: The 50 and 55 style helmets (aka the "Pudding Bowl Style") failed to absorb sufficient force during testing. In the event of a crash, the wearer of these helmets may not be adequately protected. Possibly resulting in injuries.
What should you do? Return your helmet to Scoot Around Town, 1180 E. Michigan, Ypsilanti, MI 48198. Your helmet will either be replaced with a similar DOT compliant helmet, credit issued towards the purchase of a different helmet, or the purchase price of the helmet will be refunded. Please note that helmets received for promotional purposes are only eligible for replacement.
