Fun and Practical
Pros: Great gas mileage, ample storage with trunk accessory.
Cons: Doesn't handle rough roads (potholes, etc.) well, not for tall people.
Review:
I bought my FLY 150 in 2006. I had to get it lowered slightly because I'm short (5' 1") and didn't want to have to lean the scooter when stopped to put a foot down. I also had a trunk installed for a bit of extra storage beyond the under seat storage (highly recommended). The trunk also doubles as a back rest for the passenger. My scooter came with a built-in stand (I'm not sure if it's a standard option) which raises the back end of the scooter off the ground several inches when parked. So, it's a bit problematic for me to get the scooter out of the parked position. Again, I'm short and light. This shouldn't be an issue for taller and heavier people though.
It's fun to ride and light enough that a small person can easily control it. However, you will definitely feel any bumps in the road.
Also, taller people may feel a bit cramped. My husband is 6' and he would have preferred a slightly larger machine. My father-in-law is 6'7" and can't fit on the scooter at all.
Overall impression: For mid distance trips on well maintained roads in good weather, this is a perfect mode of transportation.
Note: I prefer to walk or ride my bicycle for short distance (< 5 mi) trips such as commuting to work (rain, snow, or shine) 70% of the time, drive the scooter for mid distance (5 - 10 mi) and/or time constrained trips 20% of the time, and drive my car for long distance (> 10 mi), multi passenger, large cargo, severe weather, and/or time constrained trips about 10% of the time.
